Chioma Ifemeludike, the African Action Congress (AAC) candidate in the Anambra governorship election, has declared herself “a winner” despite receiving only 292 votes.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ifemeludike described her performance as a “symbolic victory”, saying it represents integrity and courage in a political space dominated by big parties. She emphasized that her campaign was free of malpractice and driven by conviction, not money or influence.
“Integrity stands firm and higher than political deception. I’m a winner!” she wrote sportsdayonline.com The Punch.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Governor Chukwuma Soludo of APGA the winner with 422,664 votes, followed by Nicholas Ukachukwu of APC with 99,445 votes. Ifemeludike, a filmmaker and activist, attracted attention during the campaign for her unconventional media presence and grassroots messaging.
