Global music icon Adele is stepping into the world of cinema, making her acting debut in acclaimed designer and filmmaker Tom Ford’s new movie, Cry to Heaven, a highly anticipated drama inspired by Ford’s earlier collaborations and the lavish aesthetic of his previous films.
According to Variety, Cry to Heaven will feature Adele in a supporting but pivotal role, marking her first major appearance on screen beyond her music videos and concert films. The story, described as a “darkly elegant exploration of fame, love, and reinvention,” will be directed and co-written by Ford, known for his stylish hits A Single Man and Nocturnal Animals.
The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Adele’s involvement has been shrouded in secrecy for months, with filming scheduled to begin in early 2026 in London and Los Angeles. Industry insiders say her role was “tailored to her unique persona and emotional depth.”
BBC Entertainment reports that the project has already sparked major buzz among fans and critics, with Ford describing Adele as “a natural performer with the presence and vulnerability that great cinema demands.”
Deadline adds that the film will also star Jake Gyllenhaal and Cate Blanchett, with Ford expected to release the first teaser by mid-2026.
