Osogbo, Dec. 1, 2025 — Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the Igbajo community in Boluwaduro Local Government Area, following violent clashes that left several people injured and property destroyed.
The directive, announced through the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, takes immediate effect and is aimed at restoring peace and preventing further breakdown of law and order. Security agencies have been ordered to enforce the curfew strictly, with residents advised to remain indoors until further notice.
According to reports, the unrest stemmed from a long-standing dispute between rival groups in the community, which escalated into violent confrontations over the weekend. Witnesses said the clashes involved the use of dangerous weapons, forcing many residents to flee for safety. Governor Adeleke described the situation as “unacceptable,” stressing that his administration would not tolerate violence that threatens lives and property.
The curfew underscores the government’s determination to prioritize security and protect citizens, especially as the festive season approaches. Analysts note that while curfews are often effective in halting immediate violence, they also highlight deeper communal tensions that require long-term resolution. In Osun, disputes over land, traditional leadership, and political rivalry have historically fueled unrest in rural communities.
Governor Adeleke has directed the police and other security agencies to investigate the root causes of the conflict and bring perpetrators to justice. Violence only destroys our collective progress,” the governor said.

Traders and farmers in Igbajo said the restriction would disrupt business, but acknowledged that safety must come first.
The Osun State Government has assured that the curfew will be lifted once peace is restored and security agencies confirm that normalcy has returned. For now, the community remains under tight surveillance, with patrols deployed to enforce compliance and deter further violence.
