Uyo, Dec. 5, 2025 — Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has announced the release of ₦1.6 billion to cover transport stipends for thousands of applicants sitting for the civil service recruitment Computer-Based Test (CBT).
According to the governor, the allowance is intended to ease the financial burden on candidates traveling from different parts of the state to Uyo, where the CBT is being conducted.
“We want to ensure that no applicant is discouraged by transport costs. This initiative is part of our commitment to fairness and inclusivity in the recruitment process,” Eno said.
The governor explained that the funds will be disbursed directly to applicants who registered for the exercise, adding that the gesture reflects his administration’s emphasis on people-centered governance.
Officials noted that the CBT is a critical step in filling vacancies across ministries, departments, and agencies, with thousands of applicants vying for positions.
Beneficiaries welcomed the move, describing it as a relief amid rising transport fares and economic hardship.
Analysts say the approval demonstrates the state’s effort to promote transparency and equal opportunity in public service recruitment, while also cushioning the impact of Nigeria’s broader economic challenges.
