Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and incumbent governor of Anambra State, is currently leading in the 2025 governorship election as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reports over 99% of polling unit results uploaded to its IReV portal Naija News The Punch.
Soludo is ahead in key strongholds such as Aguata Local Government Area in Anambra South and parts of Anambra Central, according to preliminary tallies. The election, held across 5,718 polling units, saw 16 candidates contesting, including two women Naija News.
Despite early arrival of election materials, voter turnout was relatively low, with reports of vote-buying and other infractions trailing the otherwise peaceful process The Punch Channels Television. INEC confirmed that 99.14% of results had been uploaded as of Saturday night, with 2,802,790 registered voters eligible to participate Naija News.
Observers noted that while the process was largely orderly, youth and trader apathy contributed to the low turnout, despite increased collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the poll Channels Television.
