Makurdi, Dec. 5, 2025 — The Commissioner of Police in Benue State, Emmanuel Adesina, has declared that schools in the state are secure, dismissing fears of imminent threats to students and staff.
Speaking during a press briefing in Makurdi, Adesina emphasized that the command has deployed adequate personnel to monitor and protect educational institutions. He noted that intelligence reports did not indicate any planned attacks on schools, adding that proactive measures were in place to forestall any security breaches.
“Our schools are safe. We have intensified patrols and surveillance, and there is no cause for alarm,” the commissioner said.

Context
Benue, like many states in Nigeria’s Middle Belt, has faced challenges from banditry and communal clashes. Recent concerns about school safety prompted the reassurance from the police command.
