Speaking at a recent industry forum, Binance chief executive Richard Teng said that Bitcoin’s price fluctuations should not be viewed as extraordinary when compared with traditional financial markets.
Teng noted that while Bitcoin has experienced notable declines in recent weeks, similar levels of volatility are common in equities, commodities, and even foreign exchange markets. “Volatility is not unique to crypto. If you look at tech stocks, oil prices, or emerging market currencies, the swings are often just as sharp,” he explained.
His comments come amid a broader risk-off sentiment in global markets, which has seen investors pull back from speculative assets. Bitcoin recently fell to its lowest level in seven months, while Ethereum and Solana also recorded steep losses.
Teng emphasized that despite short-term turbulence, Bitcoin’s long-term fundamentals remain strong, citing growing institutional adoption, the expansion of regulated crypto products, and increasing recognition of digital assets as part of diversified portfolios.
The Binance CEO also highlighted that Bitcoin’s volatility has been declining over the years as liquidity deepens and more institutional players enter the market. He argued that regulatory clarity and broader acceptance will further stabilize the asset class.
Analysts say Teng’s remarks are aimed at reassuring investors during a difficult period for crypto markets, where heavy ETF outflows and macroeconomic uncertainty have fueled sharp sell-offs.
