The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed November 20, 2025, for judgment in the terrorism case against Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Justice Binta Nyako set the date after Kanu declined to open his defense, insisting that the charges against him were invalid.
Kanu, who is representing himself after disengaging his legal team, argued that the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act under which he was charged had been repealed. The court, however, ruled that he had been given ample opportunity to defend himself and that the trial would proceed to judgment.
The case has drawn national and international attention due to its political sensitivity and implications for civil liberties and separatist movements in Nigeria.
