The death toll continues to rise as fierce fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas militants in Gaza enters another week, deepening what aid agencies describe as one of the region’s worst humanitarian crises in years.
According to BBC News (Nov. 5, 2025), overnight airstrikes by Israel hit several densely populated areas in northern and central Gaza following renewed rocket fire from militants. Gaza’s health ministry reported that hundreds of civilians, including women and children, were among the latest victims of the escalating bombardment.
Al Jazeera detailed that entire neighborhoods in Gaza City and Khan Younis have been leveled, with hospitals overwhelmed and operating under severe shortages of fuel, medical supplies, and power. Doctors have described conditions as “catastrophic,” with thousands of wounded civilians receiving treatment in hallways and makeshift tents.
Meanwhile, The Times of Israel confirmed continued rocket fire toward southern Israeli cities, prompting air raid sirens and evacuations. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said its latest operations aimed to “dismantle Hamas’ military infrastructure” and prevent further attacks on Israeli civilians.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that displacement in Gaza has now exceeded 1.5 million people, with over half the population cut off from reliable access to food, clean water, and medical care. UN officials warned that the enclave’s humanitarian network is “on the brink of total collapse.”
International leaders, including the U.S. Secretary of State, the European Union, and the UN Secretary-General, have urged for an immediate ceasefire and unrestricted humanitarian access. However, both sides have rejected a truce so far, with military operations continuing across multiple fronts.
