Femi Falana has sharply criticized the Lagos and Abuja governments for conducting house demolitions at midnight, despite existing court orders prohibiting such actions. Speaking on Arise Television, Falana described the demolitions as a “gross violation of the rule of law” and a “dangerous assault on Nigeria’s judiciary.”
The demolitions reportedly occurred in areas like Oworonshoki (Lagos) and parts of Abuja, targeting structures deemed illegal or obstructive to urban planning. However, Falana argued that no governor or minister has the power to demolish any property without a valid court order, citing constitutional protections under Section 43 of the 1999 Constitution.

Falana also referenced a restraining injunction issued by Justice A.G. Balogun of the Lagos High Court on October 23, 2025, which barred further demolitions in the Itesiwaju Ajumoni CDA, Oworonshoki. He accused the Lagos State Government of “flagrant disobedience” and “contempt of court.”
The demolitions have sparked public outrage, with residents describing the actions as traumatic and unjust. Falana’s remarks—particularly his comparison to Gaza—underscore the severity of the situation and the need for lawful governance.
