Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has responded to the viral clash between himself and a military officer during an inspection of a disputed land in Gaduwa, Abuja, saying he “can’t be intimidated” and will continue enforcing development control laws without fear The Punch Daily Post Nigeria.
The confrontation occurred when Wike visited Plot 1946, Buffer Transit, Southern Parkway, which is allegedly linked to former Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo. Soldiers reportedly blocked FCT officials from accessing the site, prompting Wike to personally intervene. In a video widely circulated online, Wike was seen ordering the officer to “shut up” and calling him “a fool,” while asserting his authority over land matters Daily Post Nigeria.
Addressing journalists after the incident, Wike stated:

He criticized the former naval chief for allegedly using military personnel to obstruct government enforcement, saying such actions were lawless and unacceptable. Wike emphasized that land administration and development control fall under the jurisdiction of the FCT Administration and vowed to reclaim all illegally acquired lands.
