ENUGU — In a recent security clampdown, the Enugu State Police Command arrested five suspects tied to armed robbery operations within the state. According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, the arrests were made following coordinated intelligence‑led efforts by tactical units.
The suspects are accused of carrying out armed robberies, some involving motorcycles and high‑value items. During one of the operations, a firearm was recovered alongside live ammunition and stolen property. The police noted that investigations are still ongoing and that the suspects will be arraigned in court upon completion of formal interviews and evidence processing.
This action is part of a broader push by the command to reduce serious crime in Enugu State. Earlier this year, just over six months into his tenure, the command’s commissioner reported 98 arrests for armed robbery among 5,176 total arrests in that period. (swafricanews.com)
