U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the deal following a high-level meeting with India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Kuala Lumpur. The accord, described by both sides as “historic,” is designed to enhance defence collaboration across multiple fronts including joint military training, intelligence sharing, co-production of weapons, and technology transfer.
“This partnership will ensure our forces remain interoperable and ready to address regional challenges together,” Hegseth stated after the signing ceremony.
The agreement comes amid mounting tariff tensions between the two countries, with Washington’s recent levies on Indian exports prompting strong responses from New Delhi.
