INEC Begins Collation of Results in Anambra Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially commenced the collation of results for the 2025 Anambra State governorship election, following the conclusion of voting and counting across the state’s 21 local government areas.

The collation exercise began in the early hours of Sunday at INEC’s headquarters in Awka, with officials, party agents, observers, and journalists present. According to INEC, over 99% of polling unit results had already been uploaded to its IReV portal, ensuring transparency and public access to the vote counts The Punch.

Despite the smooth deployment of election materials and a largely peaceful process, the election was marred by low voter turnout and allegations of vote-buying in several areas. Nonetheless, INEC has reiterated its commitment to a credible and transparent process.

Among the leading candidates are:

  • Chukwuma Charles Soludo (APGA) – incumbent governor

  • Nicholas Ukachukwu (APC)

  • George Moghalu (Labour Party)

  • John Chuma-Nwosu (ADC)

Preliminary results from local government areas such as Dunukofia, Njikoka, and Awka South show APGA leading in several polling units The Punch.
