The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) the winner of the 2025 Anambra State governorship election, securing a second term in office with a landslide victory.
Soludo garnered 422,664 votes, winning in all 21 local government areas and 320 out of 326 wards, according to INEC’s final tally. His closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), received 99,445 votes, while other candidates, including Chioma Ifemeludike of the African Action Congress (AAC), trailed far behind.
The election was widely praised for its peaceful conduct, with observers noting improvements in logistics, voter turnout, and transparency. INEC deployed biometric verification systems and real-time result transmission, which contributed to the credibility of the process.
In his acceptance speech, Soludo thanked the people of Anambra for their trust and pledged to deepen reforms in education, infrastructure, and youth empowerment. He also commended INEC and security agencies for ensuring a smooth electoral process.
“This victory belongs to the people. We will continue to build a prosperous, secure, and inclusive Anambra,” Soludo said.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulated Soludo, calling the outcome a “vote of confidence” in his leadership and a model for democratic practice. The re-election has been described by analysts as a strong endorsement of Soludo’s first-term performance and a sign of APGA’s enduring influence in the South-East.
