On November 19, 2025, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) carried out multiple strikes on villages including Deir Kifa, Chehour, Aainata, and Tayr Filsay, after issuing evacuation warnings to residents. Thick plumes of smoke were seen rising from the targeted areas as civilians fled.
Israel said the attacks were designed to prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding its military capabilities in violation of last year’s U.S.-backed ceasefire agreement. According to the IDF, Hezbollah has been attempting to re-establish weapons depots and intelligence networks near the border.
At least one person was killed in Wednesday’s strikes, while earlier operations reportedly eliminated two Hezbollah members in Bint Jbeil and Blida. Israel accused them of involvement in rebuilding the group’s military infrastructure and gathering intelligence.
Hezbollah, however, insists it has abided by the ceasefire terms, which required it to withdraw from the border region and allow the Lebanese army to deploy there.
The strikes have raised fears of renewed conflict, with analysts warning that the situation could spiral into a wider confrontation if escalation continues.
