The management of Katsina United Football Club has firmly denied reports alleging violence and the death of a player during their recent Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixture against Kano Pillars. The club described the claims circulating on social media as “false, misleading, and damaging”, urging fans and the public to disregard the rumors.
In a statement signed by the club’s media officer, Nasir Batsari, Katsina United clarified that while the match was intense and emotionally charged, no violent incidents or fatalities occurred. The club emphasized that all players and officials are safe, and the game concluded without any major disruptions.
“We are deeply concerned about the spread of misinformation that could tarnish the image of our club and the league,” Batsari said. “There was no violence, and no player died during or after the match.”
The NPFL fixture, held at the Mohammed Dikko Stadium, ended in a 1–1 draw, with both sides displaying competitive spirit. Security personnel were present throughout the match, and no breach of protocol was reported.
Katsina United also called on the League Management Company (LMC) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to investigate the source of the rumors and take action against those spreading falsehoods that could incite panic or damage reputations.
The club reaffirmed its commitment to fair play, professionalism, and the safety of all stakeholders involved in Nigerian football.
