The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested a young woman and three accomplices for allegedly luring and killing her boyfriend, identified as Ali Salisu, in Gidan Kacha village, Gada Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesperson DSP Ahmad Rufai confirmed the arrest in a statement on Saturday, saying the incident stemmed from a deceptive plot orchestrated by the victim’s lover, Rukayya Amadu.
According to the police, Rukayya invited Salisu to meet her at a secluded location, where one of the suspects, Hamisu Ibrahim, ambushed him. The victim was reportedly strangled to death with a rope, and his motorcycle — a red Kasia — was stolen after the killing.
Further investigation led to the arrest of two other suspects, Lawali Abdullahi and Ibrahim Abdullahi, who were accused of receiving and attempting to sell the stolen motorcycle.
All four suspects are in police custody and will be charged with criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, armed robbery, and receiving stolen property, according to the command.
Sokoto Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa, described the crime as “tragic and avoidable,” warning residents to be vigilant and cautious in personal dealings. He assured that justice would be pursued “to its logical conclusion.”
“This case shows how easily deceit and greed can lead to tragedy,” DSP Rufai said.
“We are determined to ensure all those involved face the full weight of the law.”
The case has drawn public outrage, with many social media users expressing shock over the deadly betrayal.
