Tragedy has struck the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) community as a senior officer and her teenage daughter, previously declared missing, have been discovered dead in Osun State under circumstances police suspect to be linked to ritual practices.
The victims were identified as Superintendent Route Commander Funmilayo Oluwamayokun Lasisi (39) and her daughter, Sewa Lasisi.
Both were reported missing on November 2, 2025, after leaving their residence at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and failing to return.
Their bodies were later found at the den of a suspected herbalist in Osun State, with mutilated body parts, raising fears of ritual killings.
Lasisi was a fourth-level senior operational officer in the FRSC hierarchy, responsible for overseeing multiple routes and coordinating enforcement operations. Her disappearance had prompted a statewide search by the Ogun State Police Command, which eventually led to the grim discovery.
The case has shocked the public, with many Nigerians expressing outrage over the persistence of ritual-related killings. Community members and colleagues described Lasisi as a dedicated officer and mother whose life was cut short in a horrific manner.
Police authorities have vowed to intensify investigations, apprehend all suspects involved, and ensure justice is served. The incident underscores the ongoing challenge of ritual-related crimes in parts of Nigeria, which continue to pose threats to public safety despite repeated crackdowns.
