NAPTIP Rescues 221 Human Trafficking Victims in Jigawa Since 2023
Director-General of NAPTIP, Binta Adamu Bello

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued 221 victims of human trafficking in Jigawa State since the establishment of its command in July 2023. The announcement was made by Commander Abdulladir Turajo during a one-day sensitization campaign held in Kazaure, aimed at raising awareness among critical stakeholders across the state’s 27 local government areas.

Turajo revealed that the victims were successfully reunited with their families, and the command has also secured two convictions related to trafficking offenses. In addition, NAPTIP has conducted 175 sensitization programs in communities, schools, religious centers, motor parks, and markets to combat trafficking and exploitation.

The campaign was organized in collaboration with the Jigawa State Ministry for Local Government and Community Development, as part of a broader zonal grassroots initiative to curb human trafficking in northern Nigeria.

NAPTIP reiterated its commitment to protecting vulnerable populations and called on community leaders, educators, and religious institutions to support its mission by reporting suspicious activities and promoting safe migration practices.
