The Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, officially unveiled the new UK centre during the “Education Matters Conference UK 2025” in London. The centre is being established in partnership with Barnfield Education Ltd (BEP Education). (Vanguard News)
According to a statement by NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, the London centre will cater to Nigerian students and adult learners residing in the UK who, for various reasons, have been unable to complete their secondary education or obtain equivalent qualifications. In his remarks, Professor Wushishi said: “Our objective is to provide credible and accessible examination opportunities for Nigerians residing abroad in line with the Federal Government’s education policy on inclusivity and global engagement.” (Vanguard News)
He added that NECO already administers examinations in seven countries, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and that new centres are being accredited in Egypt and Burkina Faso. (Vanguard News)

In his message, the Federal Ministry of Education Minister, Tunji Alausa, described the launch as “a crucial step in serving our diaspora community” and said the ministry views the diaspora “not just as a community to serve but as a resource to be empowered.” (Vanguard News)
Dr. John Ibanga of Barnfield Education Ltd said the centre provides an alternative academic route for young learners and adults in the UK who face limitations in obtaining the British system’s GCSE qualification. (Vanguard News)
