One of 25 Abducted Kebbi Schoolgirls Escapes

In a dramatic turn of events, one of the 25 schoolgirls abducted from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, has escaped captivity.

The attack, which occurred before dawn on Monday, saw heavily armed gunmen storm the boarding school, killing the vice principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and abducting dozens of students. According to the school principal, Musa Rabi Magaji, the escapee managed to slip away from her captors late Monday and returned home safely. Another student reportedly avoided abduction entirely by fleeing during the raid.

Security forces, alongside local hunters, have intensified search operations to rescue the remaining 24 girls. President Bola Tinubu condemned the assault and directed security agencies to act swiftly, assuring Nigerians of his administration’s commitment to safeguarding schoolchildren.

The escape has offered a glimmer of hope to anxious families, though the community remains in mourning over the lives lost and fearful for those still in captivity.
