Victor Osimhen and Rasheedat Ajibade have both been named on the final shortlist for the 2025 CAF Awards. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the top three nominees across categories ahead of the awards gala scheduled for November 19, 2025, in Rabat, Morocco.
CAF confirmed that Victor Osimhen is among the final three contenders for the Men’s Player of the Year award, alongside Egypt’s Mohamed Salah and Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi The Punch Ripples Nigeria. Osimhen, currently playing for Galatasaray, has enjoyed a standout season and continues Nigeria’s strong presence in the men’s category following Ademola Lookman’s win in 2024.
On the women’s side, Rasheedat Ajibade is shortlisted for the Women’s Player of the Year award, joining Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy TheCable. Ajibade was instrumental in Nigeria’s triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where she was named best player of the tournament and earned multiple Woman of the Match awards.
Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie also made the final shortlist for Goalkeeper of the Year, having already won the award twice consecutively TheCable. In addition, Shakirat Moshood of Bayelsa Queens is listed among the finalists for the Best Young Player award, while the Super Falcons are nominated for National Team of the Year TheCable.
The awards ceremony will celebrate Africa’s top performers between January 6 and October 15, 2025, with winners announced at the gala in Rabat The Punch.
