The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has revealed that Governor Ademola Adeleke may withdraw from pursuing the party’s nomination for the 2026 governorship election.
Speaking at a press briefing in Osogbo, PDP State Chairman Sunday Bisi explained that worsening internal disputes within the party’s national leadership have disrupted its timetable and made it impossible to hold the governorship primary earlier scheduled for December 2, 2025.
Bisi noted that although Adeleke had fulfilled all requirements — including purchasing and submitting his nomination forms between October 13 and 25, and appearing before the screening committee on October 30 — the ongoing crisis has cast doubt on his interest in continuing with the process.
He added that Adeleke’s decision could still change if the PDP resolves its internal crisis in a manner recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) within the commission’s timeline.
The development has heightened uncertainty in Osun politics, with analysts warning that the PDP risks losing ground if the crisis persists.
