Sokoto, Dec. 5, 2025 — The Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of several individuals accused of funding banditry and engaging in motorcycle theft, crimes that have fueled insecurity across the northwest.
Commissioner of Police, Ali Kaigama, disclosed the arrests during a press briefing, noting that the suspects were apprehended following intelligence-led operations across different parts of the state.

Bandit financiers: Police said the suspects were allegedly providing funds and logistical support to bandit groups operating in Sokoto and neighboring states.
Motorcycle thieves: Another group was arrested for stealing motorcycles, which are often resold or supplied to bandits for use in attacks.
