Abuja, Dec. 3, 2025 — The FCT Police Command announced on Wednesday that its operatives have apprehended four suspects linked to a car theft syndicate operating across Abuja.
Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh said the arrests followed intelligence-led raids carried out by tactical teams in different parts of the city. The suspects were tracked after reports of stolen vehicles were lodged by residents.
During the operation, officers recovered six vehicles, including Toyota Corolla, Honda Accord, and Lexus models, which had been stolen from various locations. The vehicles are currently in police custody and will be returned to their rightful owners after due verification.
Adeh explained that the suspects are undergoing interrogation and will be charged to court upon completion of investigations. She assured residents that the command remains committed to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of lives and property in the FCT.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, commended the operatives for their swift action and urged the public to continue providing timely information to aid crime prevention.
Security analysts note that car theft has been on the rise in Abuja, with syndicates often targeting residential areas and parking lots. The latest arrests are seen as a significant step in curbing the menace.
