The Kwara State Police Command has refuted reports suggesting that suspects linked to the recent church attack in Oke-Ero Local Government Area had been apprehended. A video widely shared on social media earlier this week alleged that the attackers had been captured by security operatives, sparking relief among residents and worshippers affected by the incident.
However, police spokesperson Toun Ejire-Adeyemi clarified on Thursday that the video was not connected to the Kwara case. She explained that investigations into the attack remain ongoing and that no arrests have yet been made in relation to the incident. Ejire-Adeyemi urged members of the public to disregard the misleading footage, warning that the spread of false information could hinder investigative efforts and cause unnecessary panic.
The attack, which occurred earlier this month, left several worshippers injured and prompted widespread condemnation across the state. Authorities have since intensified security patrols in the affected area and assured residents that every effort is being made to track down those responsible.
The Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice for victims and called on citizens to rely on official updates rather than viral social media content.
