Police Foil Bandits’ Attack, Rescue 25 Victims in Zamfara

Police operatives in Zamfara State have thwarted a bandits’ assault in Tsafe Local Government Area, rescuing 25 persons who had been abducted during the raid.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazid Abubakar, the rescue operation was carried out after officers engaged the bandits in a gun duel, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into the forest.

Abubakar explained that the victims, comprising men, women, and children, were immediately taken to Gusau for medical checks before being reunited with their families. He added that the command remains committed to intensifying patrols and surveillance across vulnerable communities.

The Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Dalijan, commended the operatives for their bravery and assured residents that the command would continue to collaborate with other security agencies to restore peace in Zamfara.

Residents of Tsafe expressed relief over the rescue, noting that banditry has long disrupted farming, trade, and daily life in the area. Security analysts say the successful operation underscores the importance of coordinated intelligence and rapid response in tackling rural banditry.
