The Anambra State Police Command has rescued a three-year-old girl who was allegedly stolen from her parents in Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident, explaining that the suspect was an apprentice to the victim’s family who fled to Calabar, Cross River State, after selling the child to another accomplice now at large.
Operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, tracked the case and successfully recovered the child in the early hours of November 21, 2025. The girl has since been reunited with her parents, while efforts are ongoing to arrest all suspects connected to the abduction and trafficking network.
Authorities urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, stressing that child trafficking remains a serious threat in the region.
