Lagos, Dec. 5, 2025 — The Redeemed Christian Church of God has disclosed that it has invested ₦40 million in its ongoing free bus-to-work programme, which provides daily transportation for residents of Lagos and Ogun States.
According to RCCG’s Director of Administration and Personnel, Pastor Oladele Balogun, the initiative was launched to cushion the effects of rising transport fares and economic hardship on workers and students.
Balogun explained that the buses operate along major routes in Lagos and Ogun, including:
Berger–CMS corridor
Ikorodu–CMS axis
Mowe–Berger route
Redemption Camp–Berger corridor
He noted that the programme has been running since October and has already transported thousands of commuters free of charge.
“The church has so far spent ₦40 million on fueling, maintenance, and logistics to keep the buses on the road. This is part of our social responsibility to the communities we serve,” Balogun said.
The RCCG leadership emphasised that the initiative is not limited to church members but open to the general public, reflecting its commitment to community welfare.
Commuters have lauded the programme, describing it as a relief amid the high cost of living and transportation in the region.
Analysts say the initiative highlights the growing role of faith-based organisations in providing social support, especially during periods of economic strain.
