Tension has gripped parts of Ogun State after six real estate marketers were abducted by gunmen during a site inspection, according to confirmation from the state police command. The victims—employees of a property development firm—were reportedly attacked by armed men who trailed them to a remote land location on the outskirts of the state.
Police sources said the marketers had gone to assess a parcel of land when the gunmen emerged from a nearby forest, firing shots into the air before whisking all six victims away. Their vehicle was later recovered by law enforcement officers at the scene.
Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, condemned the attack and assured the public that a full-scale search-and-rescue operation has begun, with tactical units and local vigilantes already combing forested areas. “We are working tirelessly to ensure the safe return of the victims and to apprehend the perpetrators,” she said.
The abduction has sparked concern among real estate professionals and investors, many of whom say increased insecurity around land inspection sites poses growing risks to their business operations. Community leaders have called for intensified policing, especially in border communities where kidnappers often retreat.
Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements as rescue efforts continue.
