The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has called on the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) to urgently reopen Nigeria’s refineries before December. This follows the announcement of a proposed 15% fuel tariff, which PETROAN warns could worsen fuel affordability and deepen economic hardship. The association stressed that domestic refining is the only sustainable way to shield Nigerians from global price volatility. PETROAN also urged the government to ensure transparency and accountability in refinery rehabilitation efforts.
