Indian police have arrested three Nigerian women in connection with a synthetic-drug distribution racket operating in the Delhi-National Capital Region, seizing MDMA, cocaine and manufacturing equipment in coordinated raids. (The Guardian Nigeria)
Authorities from the Crime Branch of the Gurgaon Police apprehended two Nigerian women, identified as Precious and Gifg (also reported as “Gift”), near Bakhtawar Chowk after recovering 39 grams of MDMA, which is considered a commercial quantity under India’s Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. During further investigations, police traced the network to a rented building in Khanpur Extension, Delhi, where they found a third Nigerian woman, Joy, along with 22 g of white MDMA, 3 g of brown MDMA, 9 g of cocaine, an electronic weighing machine, packaging material and mobile phones. According to investigators, the suspects allegedly entered India on medical visas, overstayed after expiry and became part of a drug-trafficking network that distributed narcotics across the NCR. A senior officer said:
“The entire building had been rented by Nigerians who were running a drug-manufacturing and distribution setup. They produced MDMA and cocaine using chemical substances and distributed them nationwide through the dark-web and other covert channels.” (The Guardian Nigeria)
The trio has been booked under Section 21(C) of the NDPS Act at Sadar Police Station, Gurgaon. Custody remand hearings are underway as authorities seek to unravel the wider cartel behind the operation. (The Times of India)
