President Tinubu has ordered the immediate resolution of the doctors’ strike, prompting the release of ₦11.9 billion in arrears and a pledge for mass recruitment of health workers.
In response to the ongoing nationwide strike by the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), President Bola Tinubu has directed the Federal Ministry of Health to swiftly resolve the crisis. Following his directive, the government approved the release of ₦11.995 billion within 72 hours to settle outstanding arrears, including accoutrement allowances owed to doctors and other health workers Premium Times.

Despite this, resident doctors in the Federal Capital Territory (ARD-FCTA) have declared a separate indefinite strike, citing unmet demands and vowing to continue even if NARD suspends its action Premium Times.
The strike has already caused widespread disruptions in public hospitals nationwide, with services halted in many facilities since November 1. NARD’s demands include payment of salary arrears, implementation of the revised Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS), and improved working conditions.
