President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded a fresh list of 32 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation, featuring several high-profile figures including a former INEC chairman, former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, and political commentator Reno Omokri.
The list, submitted to the Senate President during Thursday’s plenary, represents one of the administration’s most politically diverse diplomatic selections yet. According to presidency sources, the nominees were chosen to “strengthen Nigeria’s foreign representation” and advance the country’s strategic interests across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
The inclusion of well-known political voices such as Fani-Kayode and Omokri has already triggered intense national conversation, with analysts describing the lineup as a blend of technocrats, seasoned politicians, and loyalists. The former INEC chairman’s nomination is viewed as an attempt to deepen Nigeria’s international credibility on governance and democratic affairs.
