Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have foiled an attempted invasion by members of the Boko Haram in a local government area of Borno State, neutralising ten insurgents and recovering weapons and explosives in a swift retaliatory operation. In a statement issued by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for OPHK, the attack occurred in the early hours of [date not specified] when suspected terrorists sought to breach a forward position and create a foothold in a local community. The soldiers—backed by air support and forward reconnaissance—engaged the militants in a fierce exchange, resulting in ten insurgents being killed, several wounded and others fleeing the scene.
According to Captain Kovangiya, “The terrorists attempted to infiltrate the council area but were met with overwhelming firepower. Our troops responded professionally, eliminated ten, seized AK-47 rifles, magazines and improvised explosive device (IED) components.” The exact number of wounded or captured militants was not disclosed.
