On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, engaged in a fiery exchange with a yet-to-be-identified military officer over an alleged case of land grabbing in the Gaduwa District of Abuja. The incident occurred during Wike’s inspection of Plot 1946, Buffer Transit, Southern Parkway, a site reportedly linked to retired Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, former Chief of Naval Staff.
In a video that has since gone viral, Wike confronted the officer, questioning the legitimacy of the land acquisition: “Because you are an officer? Nobody does that. The man took land because he was the Chief of Naval Staff?” The officer, dressed in full military fatigues, insisted the land was legally acquired, stating, “I am an officer with integrity. Everything was acquired legally.”
Wike, visibly angered by the officer’s interjection, ordered him to remain silent. When the officer refused, Wike retorted, “You are a very big fool. As at the time I graduated, you were still in primary school.” The confrontation escalated as FCT officials attempted to enforce a demolition order on what they described as an illegal structure on the site.
The clash underscores ongoing tensions between the FCT Administration and individuals—often with military or political connections—accused of unauthorized land occupation in Abuja. Wike has vowed to reclaim all illegally acquired lands, regardless of the status of those involved.
