Nigerian actor and activist Yomi Fabiyi has reignited debate over the death of singer Mohbad, alleging that he is in possession of a video recording that captures the circumstances of the artist’s death.
Fabiyi’s Claim:
In a viral clip shared on social media on November 20, 2025, Fabiyi said the video was sent to him in what he described as an attempt to extort him.
He insisted that the footage contains “murder evidence and confession”, and vowed not to remain silent until justice is served.
Fabiyi revealed that he had earlier written to President Tinubu in May 2025, alleging Mohbad was murdered, and claimed the presidency directed the Inspector-General of Police to investigate.
Allegations of Cover-Up:
The actor accused certain individuals and police operatives of attempting to frustrate investigations and silence him.
He warned that the video could be weaponized politically if not properly investigated.
Background:
Mohbad, a rising star in Nigeria’s music industry, died under controversial circumstances in September 2023, sparking nationwide protests and calls for justice.
Multiple investigations have been launched, but no conclusive findings have been made public.
Fabiyi’s latest claims have intensified public pressure on authorities to reopen and thoroughly investigate Mohbad’s death, as fans and activists continue to demand accountability.
