The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested popular Lagos socialite, Mike Eze-Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, alongside over 100 guests during a midnight raid at Proxy Nightclub, located on Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The raid, which took place in the early hours of Sunday, was carried out after intelligence reports indicated that the club was hosting a “drug-themed party” where illicit substances were being consumed and distributed.
According to NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, operatives stormed the venue around 3 a.m., following hours of surveillance. “The operation was based on credible intelligence suggesting that large quantities of Loud (a potent strain of cannabis) and nitrous oxide, popularly known as laughing gas, were being used and sold at the event,” Babafemi said.
Recovered from the scene were several cartons of Loud cannabis, canisters of nitrous oxide, and other drug paraphernalia. The agency confirmed that Pretty Mike, along with a former Big Brother Naija housemate Tuoyo Ideh, were among those apprehended.
All suspects have been taken into NDLEA custody for screening and further investigation at the Lagos Command headquarters. The agency stated that any individuals found culpable after toxicology and background checks would face prosecution.
The NDLEA described the operation as part of its broader crackdown on drug abuse within Nigeria’s entertainment and nightlife sector, warning club owners and event organizers against promoting substance-based gatherings.
“We want to make it clear that the NDLEA will not tolerate the use of entertainment platforms for the consumption or distribution of illicit substances,” Babafemi added.
Meanwhile, Lagos residents have reacted to the arrests with mixed feelings — some commending the agency for enforcing drug laws, while others have called for transparency and fairness in the investigation process.
This raid follows similar NDLEA operations in 2024 and 2025 targeting clubs and private parties across Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt, as part of the agency’s drive to curb the rising trend of drug abuse in urban entertainment spaces.
